Programs & Services
Three organizations, one shared purpose.
This work is carried out by three distinct organizations, each doing one job well — the same principle behind every structure in the Village Storehouse manual. Here's how they fit together.
Individual Navigation
Engaged Services
Engaged Services helps individuals and families navigate California's Self-Determination Program — from the initial decision to move from Traditional Services, through Person-Centered Planning, budgeting, and building the right support team. This is where a family's journey usually begins: one person, one plan, real guidance through a genuinely complex system.
The Center Itself
Burgeoning Communities
Burgeoning Communities runs the actual, physical community center and its programs — the coffee shop, the market, the bakery, laundry services, and the independent living skills training woven through all of it. If Engaged Services helps a family find their way to community, Burgeoning Communities is the community they arrive at.
The Model & Consulting
The Village Storehouse
The Village Storehouse is different from the two organizations above — it doesn't run direct services for individual families. It's the model, the manual, and the consulting practice built around everything Engaged Services and Burgeoning Communities have already proven works.
- The full manual — the complete argument, evidence, and working structures behind this whole approach
- Consulting for other communities wanting to build something similar
- The growing library of real models, mechanisms, and stories in our Resources
Our rural vision — a working example of what this model could look like built from the ground up in a small town — shows what the Village Storehouse approach can produce when applied to a new place.
